Pulled pork recipes are a must-have at any barbecue, and are especially appreciated by guests at summer parties, such as 4th of July celebrations.

Our bbq pulled pork has all the basic ingredients, yet also includes some creative twists too.

Our most popular variations raise this classic recipe from familiar to fabulous!

Orange Pulled Pork Recipe

Prep 10 min. Total 8 hr 10 min.

Ingredients:

1 (3 lb.) boneless shoulder pork roast

1 (18 oz.) bottle barbecue sauce

1/2 cup mayonnaise or Miracle whip (optional)

24 dinner rolls

Juice from 1 medium orange

Makes 24 servings

Healthy substitutes: Make with reduced-fat or Light barbecue sauce and mayonnaise and use wheat dinner rolls

Directions:

Place meat in slow cooker; top with barbecue sauce and orange juice. Cover.

Cook on LOW for 8 - 10 hours or HIGH for 4 -6 hours. Remove meat for slow cooker; shred with fork. Return meat to slow cooker; stir until meat is evenly coated with sauce.

Spread mayo (optional) onto spilt dinner rolls, top with pork and serve.

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Prep 20 min. Chill 8 hr. Cook 5 hr. 45 min.

Ingredients:

1 (4 lb.) boneless shoulder pork roast

24 small dinner rolls

SPICE RUB:

1 Tbsp. paprika

1 Tbsp. garlic powder

1 Tbsp. packed dark brown sugar

1 Tbsp. dry mustard

1 Tbsp. onion powder

1 tsp. dried thyme

1 tsp. dried oregano

1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper

SAUCE MIX:

2 onions, chopped

1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup cider vinegar

1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste

1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder

1 tsp. dried mustard

3 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. salt

Makes 24 servings

Healthy substitutes: Make with Light brown sugar and use wheat dinner rolls.

Directions:

Remove skin and excess fat from pork.

Make Spice Rub: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and rub over meat. Place pork on a large plate, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

Make Sauce: Combine all ingredients in slow cooker, place pork on top and cook on High for 5 1/2 hours, until meat is tender and can be shredded easily with a fork.

Remove pork from slow cooker. Remove 2 cups of sauce. Shred meat. Stir pork back into slow cooker, cover and cook for 15 min.

To serve, spilt rolls, top with meat. Serve, passing reserved sauce separately.
