This nachos recipe and plenty more will make your traditional Mexican appetizer delish.

When your main ingredients are nachos and melted cheese the prep is easy.

With these easy nacho recipes you won't be spending night and day in the kitchen but your friends will think you slaved all afternoon to make these tasty, south-of-the-border snacks.

Easy Nachos

Prep/Total 10-15 min.

Ingredients:

1 bag crispy rounds chips

1 jar/can Salsa, any style

8 oz. shredded American cheese

8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional Toppings:

Sour Cream, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, black beans, guacamole

Healthy substitutes: Make with low-sodium chips and reduced-fat cheese

Directions:

Place chips on microwaveable dish/plate. Sprinkle cheese on top as desired. May have to separate on 2 plates. Microwave on medium for 30 sec. Top with salsa. Top with any additional toppings as desired.

Super Nachos Recipe

Prep/Total 10-15 min.

Ingredients:

1 bag Tortilla chips or crispy rounds chips

1 lb. ground beef

1 pkg. Taco seasoning mix

1 jar/can salsa, any style

1 jar jalapeno peppers, sliced, drained

8 oz. shredded Mexican blend cheese

Optional Toppings:

Sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.

Healthy substitutes: Make with lean ground beef or turkey and reduced-fat cheese

Directions:

Place chips on microwavable dish/plate, may have to use 2 dishes.

Crumble meat into a microwavable bowl. Cover with plastic wrap or lid. Microwave on HIGH 2 min.; stir and cook on HIGH 3 more min. Drain beef. Stir in taco seasoning. Add a little water until mixture looks moist (no more than 1/2 cup). Cover and microwave on HIGH 5 min. or until meat is no longer pink.

Spoon meat on chips. Spoon salsa on top of meat and chips. Sprinkle with peppers and cheese. Microwave on HIGH 2 min. or until cheese is melted. Top with any additional toppings, as desired!

Italian Nachos

Prep/Total 10-15 min.

Ingredients:

1 bag Tortilla chips or crispy rounds chips

3 cups Italian-style shredded cheese

1 (15 oz.) can pizza sauce

1 (5 oz.) pkg. pepperoni, coarsely chopped

Ripe olives or green olives, sliced and pitted (any desired amount)

Green or red bell peppers, chopped (any desired amount)

Healthy substitutes: Make with low-sodium chips and reduced-fat cheese

Place 1/2 of chips on microwavable plate. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese. Spoon 1/2 of pizza sauce over cheese. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese. Top with 1/2 of pepperoni, olives and peppers. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese.

Microwave, uncovered for 2 to 3 min. or until cheese is melted.

Repeat steps with remaining ingredients.
